Give us jobs. We don't need your rice!
Give us work, we don't want your rice!
Five days ago, a Ghanaian parliamentarian sent rice to the people for election. The result was surprising.
The young people who were given gifts threw about 10 kilograms of white rice back to the pickup truck and shouted, "Give us work, we don't want your rice!" The young people's ambition was moving.
Ghana, a West African country known as one of the "Four African Little Dragons", has taken off economically, but job opportunities are still insufficient, and the unemployment rate among young people is quite high. This is true in Ghana, let alone other African countries.
South Africa, where the unemployment rate remains high, has caused security problems, which is well known to the world. This is also a common problem in most African countries.
More than 10 years ago, the "Jasmine Revolution" in North Africa and the Middle East originated from youth protests against unemployment. The incident of young people in Ghana who refused to donate rice may affect other African countries, and the follow-up is worth observing.
